About me and my Practice

Sue Leahy

I am an accredited (BABCP registered) cognitive behavioural therapist with nine years experience of working as a CBT therapist in the NHS. 

Prior to this, I worked in the NHS for over 20 years as an occupational therapist in a variety of mental health settings and continue to be registered with the Health Care and Professions Council.

I left the NHS in 2024 and set up in private practice, keen to be able to provide a more flexible and individualised service to clients.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

At Happier Self CBT, I specialise in cognitive behavioural therapy, an evidence based treatment for a variety of difficulties. This collaborative approach supports a development of understanding in how a difficulty has arisen and, crucially, the identification of what changes might be helpful to make to maximise wellbeing.   

Experienced Professional

With years of experience working in the NHS, I bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to my private practice. My background enables me to understand various mental health challenges and the impact of life circumstances on wellbeing.

Individualised Therapy

At Happier Self CBT, I focus on providing tailored cognitive behavioural therapy to meet your unique needs. This personalised approach ensures that therapy is effective and relevant to your situation.  I am EMDR trained, so we may consider if this would be helpful, and my approach is informed by Acceptance and Commitment and Compassion Focussed Therapies.

Compassionate Care

My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment for all clients. At Happier Self CBT, I am dedicated to helping you navigate your mental health journey with compassion and understanding.  Creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment is essential for healing. At Happier Self CBT, I ensure that you feel comfortable and safe during our sessions.
